DebtSnowball.org is designed so you can use the core calculator without creating an account. This page explains what happens to the information you enter and which third-party services are present on the site.

Calculator information

Balances, APRs, minimum payments, extra payments, and debt names that you enter into the calculator are processed in your browser. DebtSnowball.org does not intentionally send those calculator values to Google Analytics.

The calculator can use browser local storage so your current inputs may remain available on the same device and browser. You can clear that stored data through your browser controls.

Shared plan links

If you create a shared plan link, the plan data is encoded into the URL itself. Anyone who receives that link can view the financial values it contains. Do not use account numbers, Social Security numbers, passwords, or other sensitive identifiers as debt names. The optional “hide debt names” setting replaces creditor labels with generic labels but does not remove balances, APRs, or payment amounts from the shared plan.

Analytics

DebtSnowball.org uses Google Analytics to understand aggregate site usage such as page views and interactions. Calculator analytics events are designed to describe actions—such as calculating, exporting, saving, or sharing a plan—without including the plan’s balances, debt names, APRs, minimum payments, or extra-payment amount.

Advertising

The site uses Google AdSense. Google and its advertising partners may use cookies or similar technologies according to their own policies and the consent or privacy controls applicable to a visitor. Advertising systems are separate from the calculator’s payoff calculations.

External links

DebtSnowball.org links to third-party websites, including government agencies and nonprofit resources. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies.

No account database

The current DebtSnowball.org calculator does not require a user account and does not maintain a DebtSnowball.org account database containing your calculator plan.

We may update this policy as the product or its third-party services change. The date above identifies the current published version.
